SPEAKER GETS REPORT TODAY; NGO’S LIE ON PROCEEDINGS
The report of the Parliamentary Select Committee
(PSC) to probe the impeachment charges against Chief Justice Shirani
Bandaranayake is to be handed over to Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa
today, sources said. Our sources said the PSC was preparing the
report last evening after the Committee met in Parliament. The
process was cut-short as there was no defence offered by the person
facing the charges, who walked out of the proceedings.

Four Opposition members withdraw from PSC
The four opposition members appointed to the
Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) to investigate into the
impeachment motion against Chief Justice Dr Shirani Bandaranayake
yesterday said at a press conference that they had decided to
withdraw from the PSC. UNP Parliamentarians John Amaratunga and
Lakshman Kiriella, DNA MP Vijitha Herath and TNA MP R Sampanthan
made this statement at a press conference at a Committee room at the
Parliament Complex.

Yatiyantota PS budget passed
The budget for 2013 with a gross income of Rs.
348,54,290 and the expenditure being Rs. 33338585 was passed at the
Yatiyantota Pradeshiya Sabha recently. Chairman U.D. Wasantha Kumara
presided. The budget was passed with a majority of five votes.
