St Servatius - Maris stella encounter ends in a draw

The under-19 traditional cricket encounter between St Servatius
College Matara and Maris stella College Negombo ended in a draw at the
Uyanwatta Stadium. Opting to bat first St Servatius were restricted to
205 runs in 48.2 overs. Yohan Chanuka scored 77 runs after being droped
on more than five occassions. Gihan Nimsara scored 38 while Shakila
Suwaris, Ruwin Sinniah and Shehan Chathuranga took two wickets each.
Maris stella were bundled out for 118 runs in 56.2 overs after being
in a strong position at 98/2 in 37 overs over night. Chathuranga
Rajapaksha scored 40 runs while Sanjika Ridma 4/25 and Chalanaka
Weerasinghe 3/35 did most of the dammage.
St Servatius declared their second innings at 141 for the loss of
seven wickets in 31.1 overs. Sanjika Ridma contributed 49 runs to the
score. Shehan Chathuranga captured 4 wickets for 42 runs.
Set a victory target of 229 runs to be scored in a menimum of 40
overs Maris stella did not make any attempt to go for it and were 96 for
the loss of faour wickets at stumps. Chathuranga Rajapaksha topped the
batting with 42 runs while Sanjika Ridma and Ashen Deemantha captured
two wickets each.
