The Pallekanugala Junior School under 14 and 16 teams showed their
class in rugby sevens by lifting the Milo Trophy in both age categories
which was held at the Ruwanwella Public Grounds, Ruwanwella on November
11.
The under 14 match was won by beating the formidable Buddhist College
Talduwa 22 points to 5 while the under 16 was won by beating the last
year champs Nugawela Central 5 points to nil.
Excellent discipline was seen among the players and parents who
witnessed this sevens tournament, which was well organized by the Sri
Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association SLSRFA and sponsored by Nestle
Lanka The chief guest was Colonel Ranjith Chandrasekera (President
SLSRFA and Principal Kingswood College, Kandy). Sugath Manjula Chairman
Pradeshiya Sabha Ruwanwella, Susantha Mendis (Secretary SLSRFA) were
also present to grace the occasion.
All arrangements were done by the Secretary of Sabaragamuwa Rugby
Football Union K S P Karunaratne, which was a great success at the
Ruwanwella Public Grounds. The Bowl was won by Bodhimaluwa while the
shield was won St Mary's College, Yatiyantota. |
