Lanka Phosphate commissions new mill complex
Lanka Phosphate Ltd (LP), plans on commissioning
the new mill complex in Eppawala on November 20, Chairman Admiral
Daya Sandagiri said that the mill was established to improve
production. “Last year though we managed to meet the demand, it was
a difficult task we had to work 22 hours a day on all three mills to
meet the demand of 56,000 metric tons,” he said.

Hemas boosts operating profits by 51 %
Hemas Group posted revenues of Rs. 12.9 billion
a growth of 29.0 % over the previous year. Main contributors were
Power, Healthcare and FMCG sectors, which recorded growth levels of
50.4 %, 22.9 % and 17.2 % respectively. Group operating profits
recorded a growth of 50.6 %, to post Rs. 1,036 million (as per SLAS)
while earnings for the half-year was Rs. 705 million (as per SLAS),
a year-on-year growth of 44.9 %. Earnings were driven by
Transportation, FMCG and Healthcare sectors, whose earnings grew by
52.2 %, 39.6 % and 33.0 % respectively, and Leisure sector which
posted earnings of Rs. 42.4 million as against a loss of Rs. 32.8
million last year.

Singer Group turnover Rs. 18.7 bn at end 3-Q
Singer Sri Lanka further strengthened its
position as the leader in Sri Lanka’s consumer durables sector as
the Singer Group’s revenue rose by Rs. 3.2 billion to Rs. 18.7
billion, at the end of the third quarter. This is an increase of 21%
when compared to its results from the same period last year. The
Group’s retail operation, which comprises Singer Plus, Singer Mega,
Sisil World and Singer Homes, recorded revenues of Rs. 17.5 billion.
Singer Finance, the Group’s pioneering financial services
subsidiary, continued its spectacular climb, with revenues
increasing by 46 %.
