Tree planting ceremony
Dayata Sevana Matara district tree planting ceremony organized by
Matara District Secretariat in collaboration with Forest Conservation
Department and State Timber Corporation, will be held at Sri Vishnu Maha
Devalaya premises, Devinuwara today at 9.39 a.m.
Katina Pinkama
The annual Katina Pinkama of Sri Bodhiraja Temple of Colombo Fort
will be held on November 23. The Pinkama is sponsored by the Sri Lanka
Board of Investment and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
Religious ceremonies
All Night Pirith recitation will be held followed by religious
discourse at President's house on November 18 and an alms giving will be
held on the following day to the Mha Sanga by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa and First lady Shiranthie Rajapaksa.
There will also be a series of pinkama in all the districts.
Recitation of Seth Pirith at district level will be held to mark the
president's birthday and the second anniversary of the second term in
Office on November 19 and to invoke blessings on the people, on the
country, Police and Security forces.
A Pirith Sajjayana will be conducted in temples in all the 25
districts.
A media release from Preident's Media Division states that the
recitation will take places at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi at Anuradhapura,
Ganewaththe, Bomiriya, Kaduwela, Gampaha Bandarawatte Vidyawansa Maha
Piriwena, Aluthgama Kande Viharaya, Hungama Hathagama Sri Sumangala
Vidyathana Pirivena, Nagadeepa Viharaya, Vavuniya, Sri Dammarathana
Vidyananda Pirivena Madukande, Vidyananada Maha Pirivena, Ampara, Maha
Rathanajothi Pirivena, Gomarankadawela, Dampellassa Vidyarthalankara
Maha Pirivena, Narammala, Wadathatha Sri Saranankara Pirivena,
Anamaduwa, Aranya Senasana, Dimbulagala, Kataragama Kirivehera
Rajamahaviharaya, Saman Devala Complex, Ratnapura and Dedigams
Kotavehera Raja Maha Viharaya.
Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, Aluviharaya, Matale Sri Dharmodaya Maha
Pirivena, Madanwala, Hanguranketha, Hettatawala Pirivena, Yatagala,
Unawatuna, Veherahena Raja Maha Viharaya, Matara, Sri Valukarama,
Talaimannarama, Sri Samurdhi RajaMaha Viharaya, Vadukkakal, Mulaithivu
Lumbini Viharaya, Kilinochchi will also hold religious ceremonies.

The Sri Lanka Independent Professionals Organization will hold
religious ceremonies to mark the President's birthday and the second
anniversary of the Second Term in Office. A blood donation camps will be
held on November 16 at 9.00 am at the Sri Abhayarama Temple,
Narahenpita, Colombo 5; and Islamic Prayer Meeting on the same day at
1.30 pm at the Dawatagaha Mosque Town Hall, Colombo 7; a Hindu prayer
meeting on November 17 at 9.30 am at the Siva Subramanium Kovil,
Colombo12, on November 19 at 9.00 am there will be a Christian Prayer
Meeting at the All Saints Church, Borella and, a a BOdhi Pooja at 6.00
pm at the Gangarama Temple, Colombo.

In view of president Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday and the second
anniversary of the second term of Presidency, a series of religious
ceremonies will be held from November 14 to 18 at the Yatagala Raja Maha
VIhara in Metaramba, Galle.
A three-day Pirith chanting will commence followed by a Buddha Puja
on November 14. The programme will conclud with an Alms giving to 160
members of the Maha Sangha.
The Galle District secretariat organized the programme under the
instructions of Chief Incumbent of Situlpawwa and Yatagala Raja Maha
Vihara Ven Metarambha Hemarathane Nayaka Thera.
Sanghika dana to bless President
A sanghika dana will held near the Ruwanweli Seya Anuradhapura on
November 25 to invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
President Rajapaksa is also scheduled to participate in the pinkama
organised by the S M Chandrasena Foundation.
Senior Old Anandians AGM
The Annual General Meeting and the Re-union of Senior Old Anandians
will be held on Sunday November 25 at "Siyawasa" building at Ananda
College from 9.00 a.m to 2.00 p.m.
This will be followed by a fellowship lunch at "Mettananda
Mandiraya", College hostel. All members should confirm their
participation before November 20 and are requested to contact Treasurer
for details.
Jak sapling planting drive
The Jak Development Foundation has launched a programme to plant
50,000 jak plants in rural areas in association with SLCDF, NNAF and NGO
MDC to promote environmental protection and food security. The inaugural
ceremony will be held at the BMICH on November 16 at 9.30 am. |
