Wild jumbo kills peasant

A wild elephant killed a peasant in Divulpothaana off Mahaoya in the RambakenoyaMahaweli Zone.

Thirty-nine-year old Wediwela Mudiyanselage Punchibanda was killed by the wild elephant in Divulpothaana, Mahaoya while riding a motorcycle to his chena. Punchibanda was a resident of the Pahala Rathkinda Mahaweli colony off Girandurukotte of the Mahaweli C Zone (around Dehiaththakandiya). He was cultivating a chena in Divulpothaana for the Maha crop period, a report added. Police are investigating.
