Series of religious observances to mark President’s birthday
A series of special religious observances organized by the Kumarasiri
Hettige Foundation, will be held at Ancient Gatabaru Rajamaha Viharaya
in Kotapola on November 16 to celebrate the birthday of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa and to commemorate his induction in office.
The religious observances will commence with a special pooja to be
held at Getabaruwa Udamaluwa Viharaya at 10 am on this day. A Bodhi
Pooja will be held at 5.30 pm in front of the Bo-Tree near the “Makara
Thorana” entrance of the Gatabaru Pahala Maluwa.
A series of religious observances will be conducted with the
participation of President's Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Kumarasiri
Hettige and as per the instructions of Incumbent of Getabaru Raja Maha
Viharaya, Deputy Sangha Nayaka of Southern Sri Lanka, Venerable
Beralapanathara Chandrawimala and Incumbent Venerable (Dr) Kirinde
Ananda.
Spokesman of Hettige Foundation Nimal Edirisinghe stated that action
will be taken at this function to invoke blessings on the children of
the area sitting for the GCE (O/L) Examination this year, donating
material to around 300 devotees of Sheela Samadana Societies of many
temples and distributing sandalwood saplings. |
