Trilingual destination boards

Private Transport Ministry Secretary Victor Samaraweera said orders have been issued to all bus owners to display the destination boards of their buses in all three languages.

Buses plying on the Northern route have to specially comply with the order, he said.

He said the District Secretariats in the Northern Province and the National Transport Commission have been informed over this trilingual policy.

Samaraweera said the policy would also strictly apply to inter-provincial buses. The secretary said stern action would be taken against bus owners who do not comply.
