Man assaulted to death

Nittambuwa Police, acting on information received, found the body of a man who had been assaulted to death at his home in Kanakolawaththa, Nittambuwa on Tuesday. M Muhur Raminoor, 52, died in the incident. Investigations are continuing.

Police probe mysterious death

Ududumbara Police commenced an investigation into the death of a 57 year old man whose body was found in his home in Minuwangamuwa, Bopatha. Police found the body after information they received and said that the body seemed to be a few days old. The victim, W M G Senavirathna, of the same address had led a solitary life.

Suspects arrested

Beruwala Police on Tuesday arrested two suspects in Kaluwamodara, who had been wanted in connection with a series of burglaries including a cash theft at a filling station at gun point. They had carried out robberies in Horana, Awissawella, Panadura Balapitiya, Kahathuduwa. Fifteen cases have been filed against them in magistrate courts. The Kalutara magistrate remanded them until November 12.

Meanwhile, a suspect who had carried out nine burglaries in Chilaw, Bingiriya, Mundalama and Hettipola, was arrested by Marawila Police. Part of the stolen goods was seized from his possession. Another suspect who was arrested with the loot in this connection was bailed out. The main suspect was remanded until November 19 by the Marawila Magistrate.
