Chain snatcher had toy gun

An officer attached to Wellawatte Police arrested a suspect fleeing after snatching a chain from a woman while she was walking along Rawathawaththa, Moratuwa on Monday.

The suspect had pointed a pistol at people in the vicinity after stealing the chain. A police officer overpowered the youth and took him into custody. It later transpired that the youth had brandished a toy pistol. The 32 - year - old suspect had come on a push cycle.
