Parliamentarians for the removal of Chief Justice Shirani
Bandaranayake was included in the Order Paper of Parliament
yesterday. The resolution in accordance with Article 107 (2) of the
constitution was for a Motion of Parliament to be presented to the
President for the removal of Dr Mrs Upatissa Atapattu Bandaranayake
Wasala Mudiyanse Ralahamilage Shirani Arishumala Bandaranayake from
the office of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the
Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Divineguma Bill can be passed with suggested amendments
The Divineguma Bill can be passed in Parliament
by effecting the amendments suggested in the Supreme Court order,
including a special majority. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday
informed Parliament of the Supreme Court determination in connection
with the Divineguma Bill.

Massive demo in support of Divineguma Bill
A massive demonstration was held near the
Parliamentary complex yesterday urging the Government to get the
Divineguma Development Department(DDD) Bill passed with a two thirds
majority. Nearly 20,000 people, including members of Samurdhi trade
unions and progressive people’s organizations participated in the
demonstration.
