SLSR Regimental Headquarters salutes fallen War Heroes
The Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR)
commemorated their fallen War Heroes at its Ambepussa Headquaters on
Saturday, giving pride of place to next of kin and children of SLSR War
Heroes.
Army Commander Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya was the Chief Guest on the
occasion, at the invitation of Colonel of the Sinha Regiment.

The event, organized for the 23rd consecutive year, paid floral
tributes to the SLSR memorial at the premises and transferred merits to
143 officers and 3719 other rankers who made the supreme sacrifice while
defending the country’s territorial integrity.
The Army Commander was welcomed by the Regimental Commander of the
Sinha Regiment on arrival.
It followed the floral tribute to the SLSR Monument in commemoration
of SLSR War Heroes. Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya and Mrs. Jayasuriya placed
floral tributes to the fallen martyrs together with the next of kin and
children of the departed who also lit lamps in their memory.
The Army Commander recalled the supreme sacrifices made by SLSR War
Heroes like Captain Aladeniya and Hasalaka Gamini and reminded that
those sacrifices have now borne fruit, since the country, in peacetime
is heading for a speedy development.
The Commander also shared a couple of views with the family members
of the War Heroes. He also shared a few thoughts with the parents of the
War Hero Hasalaka Gamini, who sacrificed his life while defending his
camp at Elephant Pass.
SLSR troops made a symbolic cash donation of Rs two million towards
the Brave Hearts project, engaged in the Abimansala construction at
Kamburupitiya.
The cheque to this effect was presented to the Commander by the
Colonel of the SLSR Regiment.
Senior SLSR Officers Major General Jaliya Nammuni (Retd), Major
General W.A.A. de Silva (Retd), Brigadier T.R.T. Jayathunge (Retd) and a
gathering of officers were also present at the occasion.
