UNP penalizes MPs over Fonseka rally
The UNP Working Committee yesterday decided to
suspend memberships of MPs who attended a recent rally organised by
Sarath Fonseka. This was despite objections by Sajith Premadasa and
Ranjith Maddumabandara.

UNP slashed public service by 30 percent
Whereas the 2002 UNP regime curtailed the Public
Service by 30 percent and sent public servants on retirement with a
meagre gratuity, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has strengthened the
public service by amalgamating a batch of 44,000 graduates to the
Ministry in charge of the Divi Neguma programme.
