SP Chief Sanganayake Thera passes away

Chief Sanganayake of Southern Province Sangha Sabha of Amarapura Ariyawansa Saddhaammayukthika Maha Nikaya and Chief Incumbent of Dangedara Sri Jayawardanaramaya, and Keembiya Shailachetiyaramaya , Rajakeeya Panditha Venerable Keembiye Dhammawansa Nayaka Thera (88) passed away last Sunday.

The Nayakla Thera who had been ordained as a pupil of Ven. Walakumbure Dhamajothi Nayaka Thera in 1930 had rendered a great religious service of over 70 years for the uplift of Buddhism and society.

Having received his basic education at Kithulampitiya Ananda Pirivena and Vidyaloka Pirivena,Galle, the Thera had earned a Bachelor's Degree from the London University. He was also an erudite scholar in English Literature. Ven. Dhamawansa Thera had also served as the Parivenadhipathi of Vidya Ravindadra Pirivena in Nittambuwa, Gampaha.

The Nayaka Ther's cremation will take place tomorrow at the Galle, Dangedera, Jayawardena College playground at 2 pm
