Private buses on three routes off the road

Private buses operating on the Colombo-Panadura (100), Moratuwa - Colombo (101) and Mathugama - Colombo (430) launched a strike yesterday morning.

Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners Association president Gamunu Wijeratne said the strike was commenced urging the Police to take stern action against inter-provincial long distance private buses whose crews engaged in stopping their buses in between main halts for passengers resulting in delays and overloading.

However, private bus operators on the Mathugama- Colombo route have decided to call off the strike after discussions with the authorities.
