hSenid founder recognized at NBQSA awards 2012
Founder and CEO of hSenid Group of Companies Dinesh Saparamadu was
awarded the "Most Outstanding Contribution Award" at the prestigious
NBQSA Awards 2012.
The National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) which was previously
known as the National Best Quality Software Awards recognizes the
outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in Sri Lanka
which have contributed to the development of ICT to create an
opportunity gain international recognition.

This also enables the improvement of standards and the quality of the
local ICT products and services while giving the ability to compete in
the international market.
Out of the many awards given one special award is presented to a
person who has made a significant difference in Sri Lanka's ICT
landscape committed and longstanding service to the industry in order to
honour their contribution.
The "Most Outstanding Contribution Award" is presented to a very
special ICT Leader in the country. BCS Sri Lanka Section has partnered
with the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka since 2009 in presenting this award.
The award is presented to a person for his / her unique and yeoman
services contributed to the industry for over 25 years and playing a
significant role in shaping the current ICT industry landscape of Sri
Lanka.
The selection of this unique personality for the award is not an easy
task and it is done with the support of a very eminent panel of judges.
Various professional and industry associations forward nominations
and out of the nominations received the panel thoroughly analyse the
available information in selecting the recipients for the award.
Prof. Gihan Wikramanayake, Chairman BCS Sri Lanka Section quoted
"Dinesh Saparamadu's contribution towards the development and shaping of
the Sri Lanka's ICT environment has been remarkable. Generating ICT
employment locally and globally; bringing foreign exchange to the
country; taking the leadership to facilitate Sri Lanka's ICT trade and
business; and introduction of innovative ICT products are some of his
achievements.
I sincerely congratulate him for the feat achieved by winning the
2012 "Most Outstanding Contribution Awards".
Dinesh Saparamadu has been instrumental in the progress of hSenid
Group of Companies which is internationally renowned for the ICT and IS
solutions provided for a global clientele.
He has also being a cornerstone of the ICT industry of Sri Lanka and
has made significant contribution towards the industry with his wealth
of knowledge and years of experience in both Sri Lankan and
International markets. Due to the innovation and commitment Saparamadu
managed to create substantial employment opportunities in the ICT
industry and bring foreign earnings to Sri Lanka.

VeriFone, Epic launch future generation payment devices
Globally renowned US giant in manufacturing of payment devices
VeriFone Inc. together with their technology partner in Sri Lanka, Epic
recently launched future generation payment devices in the local market.
The latest EDC POS device, the VeriFone VX 520 was introduced to the
local banks by Edgar Chen, Country Manager of VeriFone Singapore.
This state of the art, tiny yet rugged hardware device can be loaded
with innovative software solutions designed and developed by Epic making
the equipment a mobile bank said Chen at the launch. The EDC POS
terminal hitherto used for swiping your credit card has now been
transformed to a mini bank enabling financial institutions to reach the
masses with on line real time banking services offered at customers'
door-step, he added.
VeriFone Inc has been in the forefront of technology innovations in
the electronic payment industry and continues to offer new devices to
meet the changing needs of the consumers and markets, he concluded.
ACS, CSSL to strengthen relations between Australia, SL
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Computer Society of Sri
Lanka (CSSL), the peak bodies for Information and Communication
Technology professionals in respective countries, today announced a
joint commitment to work to improve trade in the region through improved
professionalism in ICT.

ACS President Dr Nick Tate and CSSL President Mahesh Perera signed
the agreement at the conclusion of the South East Asia Regional Computer
Confederation held in conjunction with the ACS's Young IT Professionals
Conference in Sydney in October.
The conference brought together over 500 delegates during the three
days including senior leaders from Fiji, India, Malaysia, Nepal, New
Zealand, Sri Lanka and Australia including many CIOs and participation
from Federal Minister the Stephen Conroy, NSW Minister the Greg Pearce,
and Federal MP Ed Husic.
Sri Lankan delegation to Australia included CSSL President Mahesh
Perera, CSSL Treasurer Luxaman Perera and CSSL Council Member Yasas
Abeywickrama. "The agreement will build on the good bilateral relations
between Sri Lanka and Australia while recognising the power and value of
the digital economy to both nations is only underpinned by the
professionals who work in it," Dr Tate Said.
CSSL President Mahesh Perera welcomed the agreement to strengthen
bilateral collaboration to address the challenges within the global
digital economy:
"Sri Lanka and Australia both recognize the enormous growth potential
of ICT for development and the new partnership will further strengthen
professionalism and ICT competencies of Members of the respective
societies." said Perera. |
