David Pieris Motor introduces winning machine to SL roads
Uniquely different from other models in its class, the Discover 125
ST is more sleekly and sportily designed, has an array of stand- alone,
tech-driven features and holds the promise of an even higher performance
on power and mileage, making it the ideal motorcycle for long distance
commuting.
The Discover 125 ST is on a different level altogether. The headlight
and front fairing has a dash of the Pulsar styling. The newly designed
tank has all the right ergonomic curves, giving the rider a compact,
knee-hugging grip.
The bike's powerful 4-valve, 4-stroke, 125 cc DTS-i engine packs
high-end technological advances such as ExhausTEC and corrugated engine
fins. The corrugated engine fins not only aid heat transfer by 28%, but
also increases horsepower by 15%. As a result the Discover 125 ST makes
a very impressive 13 PS at a higher 9000 rpm. Torque however remains the
same at 10.78 Nm made at 6500 rpm.
To know how impressive these figures are, just check out the power
features of other 150 cc bikes a couple of years ago. The Discover 125
ST now provides the same or even more power from its 125 cc unit with
increased fuel economy. Says a lot, doesn't it?
An electric start and 5-speed gearbox provides for an exceptionally
smooth, optimum mileage ride and combines with the engine to achieve
speeds from 15 km/h up to 80 km/h in the same gear. The engine is pretty
comfortable at speeds between 60 to 80 km/h which makes it a very
serious performer for long distance riding.
Along with these exciting features is the bikes biggest show stealer,
its unique-in-class rear suspension set-up. For the first time, the
Discover 125 ST brings a mono suspension unit to the 125 CC segment. The
Nitrox rear mono shock absorber and rigid chassis gives the bike a
nimble, well-balanced feel. Adding more style and masculinity to the
bike are its 10-spoke front and rear alloy wheels and sporty, slightly
higher placed aluminium foot-pegs.
The Discover 125 ST also sports a 200 mm petal front disk brake with
disc cover which provides for better brake cooling, less brake fade and
overall increased braking efficiency. A powerful DC headlamp with
attractive fairing gives stable, strong light thereby enhancing safety.
Increased 1306 mm wheelbase and 170 mm ground clearance offers better
manual handling and rounds up a description of a truly outstanding 125
cc motorcycle.
