Market negative
The Colombo bourse started the week on a negative note shedding more
ground over last Friday's close.
The Colombo benchmark index, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) lost
0.48% ( 24.21 points) over last Friday's close to end the day at
5,520.62 points , while the Milanka Price Index (MPI) declined by 0.59 %
(7.38 points) to end at 5,041.82 points.
The S&P SL 20 Index (S&P) closed the day at 2,983.87 points losing
0.45% (13.48 points).
Market turnover for the day was LKR 307.79 Mn. The top turnover
generators for the day were Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC (LLUB), Tokyo
Cement Company (Lanka) PLC (TKYO), John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH),
Balangoda Plantations PLC (BALA), and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC
(COMB).The top five turnover generators accounted for 45% of the total
market turnover.
LLUB ended the day as the highest turnover generator for the day
helped by a solitary off the market trade. A volume of 200 shares
transacted at a price of LKR 200.00 via an off the market trade. The
counter traded at a low of LKR 200.00 and a high of LKR 201.00 before
ending the day at LKR 200.90, edging upwards by 0.40% (LKR 0.80) over
last Fridays_ close.
TKYO also witnessed a solitary crossing and ended as the second
highest turnover contributor. The counter generated a turnover of LKR
31.96 Mn through the off the market trade. TKYO ended the day flat at
previous day's price of LKR 28.70.
Other high turnover generators JKH & COMB ended the weaker over last
Friday's close, while BALA witnessed a rise in price of 5.87% (LKR 2.20)
to end the day at LKR 39.70.
Foreigners ended the day as net buyers with foreign purchases worth
of LKR 74.25 Mn against foreign sales worth of LKR 61.61 Mn resulting in
a net inflow of LKR 12.64 Mn.
