Lankans win six medals in International Wushu C’ship

Sri Lankan wushu players won six medals, including two silver medals and four bronze medals in the ninth International Shaolin Wushu Championship worked off in China from October 21 to 25.

The three medalists, Thilina Hasaranga Pushpakumara and Mahesha Sri Janani from Hilburn International College – Awissawella and Chamindu Janith of Seethawaka Central College contested in under-13 age category and were trained under Master Sunil Jayatissa.

Thilina and Mahesha won a silver and a bronze medal each while Chaminidu clinched two bronze medals in the championship.

Altogether 73 countries have participated in the championship and over 1000 contestants took part.
