‘Cadets must be able to meet future challenges’

National Cadet Corps Director Major General Gamini Jayasundera
yesterday stressed the importance of being cadets to face future
challenges.
He said cadets who receive comprehensive training at the Rantebe NCC
Training Centre can face any challenge.
Major General Jayasundera was addressing the passing out parade of
over 2,000 cadets of 22 battalions across the country at the NCC parade
grounds Rantebe yesterday.
It is the policy of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to produce
resource personnel who are confident in taking up any challenge through
cadet training, he said. Gampaha Bandaranayake College won the coveted
Herman Loos Trophy while Taxila College bagged the De Soyza Champion
Trophy at the annual Herman Loos De Soyza trophy competition at the
National Cadet Corp Training Centre at Rantebe.
Kingswood College Kandy and Rathnawali Balika Vidyala became the
runners up. The best shooters were R Thilakaratne and HNT Hennayake of
Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya and St Joseph College, Bandarawela. St
Sylvester College, Kandy and Devi Balika College bagged the trophy for
most disciplined platoons at the Herman LoosDe Soyza trophy. Officers
and the cadets representing India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh were
present at the passing out parade.
Special awards of commendations were presented to officials of SAARC
countries at the passing out ceremony. |
