Army to help Mannar agricultural programme

The Irrigation and Water Resources Ministry sought the assistance of the Army in the Mannar district to implement the agriculture and irrigation re-awakening programme in the district.

Mannar irrigation chief engineer Palitha Wickramatilake said under the first step of this programme, the maintenance of the canal system relating to Sluice No 07 out of the 10 sluices attached to the reservoir would be entrusted to the Army.
