CLC strikes Gold at the World Spice Festival
Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo won three awards out of six to continue
their successful run at winning awards. The hotel won awards for Best
Stall, Best Mocktail and

Best Kottu. The hotel was awarded the Best
stall at the World spice Festival for their spectacular Vietnamese
themed stall, which was on display at the Diyawanna Park, Battaramulla
in all its glory.
CLC was further recognized in two other categories, winning Best
Mocktail for the “Spice of Life” created by Seven Degrees North barman
Indrajith Yapa Bandara. Yapa’s charismatic mocktail captured the
flavours of hot basil, apple, lime and Elephant House Ginger Beer. In
addition the hotel won Best Kottu awarded to U G C J Gunathilake, who
won the judges over with his delicious recipe and kottu skills and was
1st runner up at the elephant House sausage competition.
Chef Luong Duc Dung from Han Noi, Vietnam brought a wealth of
experience with him when he joined Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo for a short
period during the Spice Festival. Chef Dung has been working in
Vietnamese restaurants for over twenty years and showcased some of his
signature dishes at the World Spice Festival alongside Cinnamon Lakeside
Colombo’s very own chef’s. The first ever Vietnamese medalist at Food
Asia’s International Culinary challenge Singapore Chef Dung won the
individual challenge bronze award at the competition in 2002 and won the
Individual and team Golden Medallion at professional chef contest in Nha
Trang in 2007.

The World Spice Festival closing ceremony took place on October 13 at
Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo. Celebrating the end of a successful week of
showcasing world cuisine, all participants were recognized for their
significant contributions at the award ceremony
Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo is proud to be part of the World Spice
Festival organised by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, which has
successfully showcased this unique initiative to the country.
The past week has seen the city come alive, with the public flocking
to some of Colombo’s top hotels and locations to tantalize their taste
buds with cuisines from around the world. |
