Icy treats for our PAW FRIENDS

Locally owned Ceccato Colombo Pvt Ltd that was launched ten years ago on October 25 by Heidy is now branching into making icy treats for dogs - the man’s best friends. The new product name Icy Tails, simply tail-icious by Ceccato will be introduced in the local market in November and made available at Il Gelato.

The inventors of the Icy Tails expect to expand the existing brand of Il Gelato and widen its customer base.

“It’s always hot outside and what do we want when it is hot –Ice Cream! What about your best friend, the furry four-legged pooch? Dogs love ice cream, but human ice cream is like so many things, bad for dogs. The sugars and fats are more that your dog needs,” Heidy and Blanka, the inventors of the Icy Tails said.

Both Heidy and Blanka love their furry pooches. Heidy has two dogs of her own, purebred eight-year-old Rottweiler named Lord Harris and five-year-old local mutt named India. Blanka’s five-year-old purebred Old English Sheep Dog named Titus is the king of the house and a true joy in her family. The seasoned dog owners certainly know what makes their dogs happy and what snacks are best for them.

“I have been making the icy homemade treats for Titus over the past 5 years now and he loves them,” said Blanka.

What started as a homemade simple treat is now becoming a nutritious fancy delicacy that will be widely available to all dog owners in Sri Lanka.

The product will launch four varieties of flavours - Veggie Breath Freshener, Minty Melon, Peanut Butter and Banana and Peanut Butter and Apple. All ingredients used in the recipes have high nutritional value. The product does not include preservatives or artificial flavours and there is no sugar added to any of the recipes.

“Both my husband and I owned and managed Il Gelato for the past 10 years now. We pride ourselves in producing high quality Italian ice cream that varies in flavours. By launching the Icy Tails together with Blanka we not only continue delivering a product of exceptional quality but also a product that is surprisingly highly nutritious and excellent low-fat, high-protein source of digestible treats for dogs. An outstanding value for our furry pooches,” said Heidy.

The Icy Tails icy treats for dogs are not recommended to be fed as a meal, yet make a wonderful addition to dog’s diet. The recipes are made from all natural products that were carefully researched and show no harm to dogs or to humans. On the contrary, all prove to be highly beneficial to dogs and therefore should be a part of dog’s diet. “However, quantities, like in many cases, should always be controlled,” said Blanka.
