Colombo BC beat Sailors 83-69

Colombo BC registered their second victory in the Carlton Cup 2012 basketball championship when they beat Navy SC comfortably, 83-69 at the Police Park courts yesterday. The tournament worked off for the sixth day at Police Park and Colombo BC defeated Old Bens 72-61 in their early meeting in the tournament.

Colombo dominated from the beginning scoring 17 points against Navy’s 14 in the first quarter and maintained their lead in all four quarters except for the third quarter where both teams scored equal 22 points.

Sailors did not able to make inroads to the game and were struggling to put up any resistance against strong Colombo attack. Winners added more 22 poinst in the second quarter while restricting sailors for 13 and posted a 12-point lead at the half time (39-27).

Even though sailors tried hard to reduce the gap in the third and final quarters by collecting 22 and 20 points respectively they did not able to prevent Colombo team from victory with a 14-point lead.

Praneeth Udamalagala and Colombo’s captain Y. Harshdeva scored 24 and 17 points respectively for the winners while Navy ‘s captain A.V. Soundararajah and T T Nithashan contributed 23 and 20 points respectively for the losers.
