A scholarship worth Rs. 12,500 to children of dead and disabled War Heroes has been launched in the Hambantota District under the leadership of the Ranaviru Seva Authority. In recognition of the services rendered for the propagation of Buddhism here and abroad, Print and Electronic Media Personality Premasara Epasinghe was conferred an honorific title Sannivedenasuir Dharmapriya by the Kotte Chapter of the Kalyani Samagiri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabhawa on his 75th Birthday which fell on October 5. It was held at the Kotte Rajamaha Viharaye Uposathagaraya. Former Secretary General - Parliament Sam Wijesinha, Senior Minister for Scientific Affairs Prof Tissa Vitarana, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Parliamentarians A H M Azwar and Tilanga Sumathimapa were also present.

A bana pinkama organized by the Buddhist Association of the Labour and Labour Relations Ministry to invoke blessings on the late P C Imbulana, a former MP for Ruwanwella and former Labour Minister, who passed away recently was held at the ministry. Here, youngest niece of P C Imbulana, Charnika Imbulana Munasinghe, offering pirikara to Katewela Hemaloka Thera of Shri Sudarshana Dharma Nikethanaya, Miriswatta, Gampaha, who delivered the Bana sermon. Buddhist Association Secretary K M M Premaratne, ETF and other staff members are also in the picture.

Graduate trainees attached to Divisional Secretariats in the Batticaloa district were presented letters of appointments by former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan. The trainees were from Koralai Pattu South- Kiran, Eravur Pattu- Chenkalady and Manmunai North- Batticaloa. Batticaloa District Secretary P.S. M. Charles, Divisional Secretaries S.
