Clifford Cup champions Kandy SC felicitated

Adversity brings the best in a team and this was amply demonstrated when the Clifford Cup champions came back strongly to defeat the team which beat them by a huge margin just ten days before to win the Clifford Cup for a record 18th time and six of them in a row, said the long time President of Kandy Sports Club Dr Sarath Kapuwatte.

He made these observations when the Clifford Cup Champions Kandy Sports Club were felicitated at a dinner held at the Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Kandy on Saturday evening.

He said that it was a big disappointment to all that Kandy could not retain the League title for the 13th successive year. But it must be remembered that the climb up the ladder is difficult but it is a lot more harder to remain on top as those below you too will be climbing and trying to dislodge you. These are the uncertainties of the game and we must learn from our mistakes.
