Ex-LTTE members in National Shooting Squad

Sports Ministry yesterday said that three ex-LTTE members of the 135 who are undergoing athletic training at the rehabilitation centres have been selected for Rifle Shooting National Squad. The selected ex-LTTE members, Kanakasuntharam Rajeewan, Thayabaran Thaventhiran and Sellamuttu Suresh Kumar received shooting riffles from Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage recently at the Ministry, the Sports Ministry further added.

The Ministry of Sports hopes they could represent Sri Lanka at the South Asian Games (SAG) in New Delhi next year.

Ex -LTTE members who have shown exceptional skill, on par with national level athletes have been selected for national squads. These athletes were chosen at talent identification camps held for former LTTE members undergoing rehabilitation,” Sports Ministry said.
