Aerial spraying of Cuban BTI in WP before year’s end

Arrangements have been made to aerial spray Cuban BTI bacteria in the
Western Province to control the increasing spread of dengue. The pilot
project of this programmes will take place before the end of this year,
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
Cuban BTI bacteria will be sprayed from the air in the Western
Province with the assistance of the Defence and Urban Development
Ministry and the Sri Lanka Air Force, he added.
The Health Ministry has made arrangements to use Air Force aircraft
to spray the bacteria with the approval of the Defence Ministry.
Discussions with Defence and Urban Develipment Ministry Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa are still going on.
