Undergrads' leadership training programme in two months

The three week leadership training programme for university students who qualified to enter universities for the 2012/2013 academic year will commence in two months, Higher Education Ministry Director General of Students Affairs Keerthi Mawella said.

He said the Higher Education Ministry hopes to announce the exact date after the Attorney General's advise.

The ministry hopes to send letters to selected students next month, Mawella said. Several changes have been made in this year's programme considering feedback from students, parents and university academics.

The leadership training programme is scheduled to be launched in three sessions at 29 Army camps in the North and East, Colombo, Kandy and Galle districts, he said.

The programme's aim is to develop leadership skills and change the undergraduates' attitude. The training comprises both theory and practical sessions, including indoor and outdoor activities.
