President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is in
Kuwait to attend the Asia Co-operation Dialogue Summit met
Pakistan's Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and held
bi-lateral talks with him on October 16 afternoon. Talks
centred round the implementation of a bilateral programme to
develop the cement and sugar industries in Sri Lanka states
a press release by the President's Media Division. It was
also agreed to implement this programme in a manner
beneficial to both countries. Attention was also drawn
during these talks on obtaining Pakistan's contribution
towards the development of industries launched by Sri
Lanka's small and medium scale industrialists. External
Affairs Minister Prof. G L Peiris. Petroleum Industries
Minister Susil Premajayantha,Parliamentarians Sajin Vaas
Gunawardena and A H M Azwer and Secretary to the President
Lalith Weeratunga were also associated at the talks. Picture
