Aunt, nephew found dead on rail track
Police are investigating the deaths of a man and
a woman in Veyangoda. The bodies were found on the railway track
between Pattigoda in Heendeniya and Veyangoda.

Police arrest owner and boat used in Tuesday’s sea drama
A special team of the Matara Police after
thorough investigations yesterday afternoon held the boat and its
owner who allegedly seized a fishing trawler after hacking six
fishermen on board and throwing them in to the seas off the Southern
coast in the early hours of Tuesday. The Southern DIG appointed a
special team to investigate the incident who arrested the boat used
in the crime at Amanwella while it had been brought ashore.

Jaffna military presence reduced by 60 percent
The strength of the military presence in the
Jaffna district has been reduced by 60 percent, while the High
Security Zones (HSZ) has also been reduced by 40 percent during the
past three years, Sri Lanka Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan
Wanigasooriya said.
