Uva CM to monitor pre-schools

Uva Province Chief Minister Shashendra Rajapaksa yesterday said he will take steps to monitor all pre - schools in the province through the Early Childhood Authority from next year, while all pre - school teachers will be provided formal training.

The Chief Minister said he is committed to provide assistance to children in the province to further their educational activities.

He said the government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa has created a free atmosphere for children to develop their skills by eradicating terrorism which plagued the country for over three decades. The Chief Minister was addressing a ceremony in Wellawaya to celebrate International Children’s Day. Over 5,000 pre-school students participated.

Rajapaksa said the government is doing everything possible to bring up a student who can face future challenges effectively.

“It is President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s expectation to provide assistance to students and uplift the educational sector,” he said. Provincial Councillors and members of the Wellawaya Pradeshiya Sabha including its chairman Rohana Wanniarachchi were also present.
