Man's body found in lodge

Kandy Police found the body of a 51 - year - old man in a room of a lodge in Kandy on Sunday. Following a complaint that the man who rented the room on October 11, never came out of the room until Saturday night, the Police searched the room and found the body of W B Chandrasena of Madapathagala, Galle.

A post - mortem revealed the cause of death as heart failure.


Couple found dead in rented house

Mahawa Police found the bodies of a couple in a rented house in Udagama, Mahawa. The deceased were identified as W A M Gihan Madusanka, 21, and Madhushika Kumari, 18, of Moragolla, Mahawa. Investigations are continuing.


Police probe man's death

Vavuniya Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found hanging from a tree in a jungle in Achipuram, Vavuniya on Monday. He was identified as M Maheeparan,47, of the same area.


Man nabbed with heroin in court premises

A man was arrested with 18.530 grammes of heroin at the Mahara magistrate court by Kadawatha Police on Monday morning. The suspect, a resident of Magulpokuna, Ragama was produced in court yesterday.


Woman burglar arrested with loot

A woman who allegedly broke in to a house at Kovil Road, Batticaloa on Saturday to steal gold jewellery worth Rs 480,000 was arrested with the stolen property on Monday by Batticaloa Police.


Wanted suspects netted

The Mount Lavinia Division Crime Investigation Unit arrested three suspects wanted in connection with a murder committed in Hettipola and several house breaking incidents in Dambulla and Gokarella.

The Police found part of the stolen property from their possession.


Female swindler caught

A woman who swindled and cheated over Rs five million from 27 people was arrested by Middeniya Police on Monday.

The Police reported the suspect had been operating a draw system (seettu) for six years where she cheated millions of rupees from 27 partners in Galwadiya and Julampitiya.
