DSS clinch OWSC Munchee Gluco Fit sixes

D.S.Senanayake college, Colombo clinched the Championship of the OWSC Munchee Gluco Fit sixes championship when they outplayed St.Peter's College by 11 runs in the final played at Campbell Park on Sunday.

This tournament was organized by Old Wesleyites Sports Club and sponsored by Ceylon Biscuits (Pvt)Ltd for the fifth year

The Senanayakians came up with a 70 runs in five overs. But the opponents were restricted to a paltry 59 runs .

The participation of a number of outstation schools including Debarawewa MMV, Kokuvil Hindu College Royal College Panadura , Gurukula MV, Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa, Moratu Mvand S.de S.Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwala was significant making an optimistic impression.

D.S.Senanayake College, St.Peter's College and Richmond College were the top three when it reached the final and the other top notched schools were knocked out as the tournament proceeded.

Other than winning the Munchee Glucofit trophy, DSS's Binura Fernando bagged the awards for the “Player of the final” and “Best batsman of the tournament” which were among the main awards of the tournament.

Duleeka Brahmanage received the award for the “Best fielder” and Roshan Anuruddha of Gurukula MV Kelaniya won the award for hitting the highest number of sixes in the tournament.

Debarawewa MMV : 64 for 2 in 5 overs(C.Pramod 31 n.o., N.Anil 14 n.o.) beat Kokuvil Hindu :59 for 4 in 5 overs (N.Silojon 36, L.Sathyan 15).

St.Peter's : 54 for 1 in 3.3 overs(Janith Liyanage 22 n.o., Shasheen Fernando 21 n.o.) beat S de S Jayasinghe MMV 52 for 5 in 4 overs (H.Hashan 24, K.Ishara 12)

Quarter Finals

DSS : 62 for 3 in 5 overs( S.Duleeka 18, Binura Fernando 17, M.Mutaliph 16 n.o.) beat Moratu MV : 41 for 5 in 4.1 overs (A.Kavishka 24, M.Supun 2 for 7)

Richmond : 75 for 3 in 5 overs( S.Chamod 35) beat President's Rajagiriya:32 for 5 in 3.4 overs(A.K.Tyrone 2 for 15)

Royal Panadura 63 for 3 in 4.1 overs (Damindu Ashan 18, Madhawa Nimesh 11) beat Debarawewa MMV : 62 for 1in 5 overs(C.Pramod 43 n.o.)

St.Peter's : 71 for 2 in 5 overs (Lahiru Milantha 29, Janith Liyanage 18, Ranitha Liyanaarachchi 12 n.o.)beat Gurukula MV 66 for 1 in 5 overs(Roshan Anuruddha 62)

Semi Finals

DSS : 51 for 3 in 3.4 overs(M.Supun 20 n.o., S.Duleeka 14) beat Richmond Galle : 50 for 5 in 4.5 overs(T.Hasitha 13)

St.Peter's : 65 for 5 in 4.4 overs (Lahiru Milantha 24, Shasheen Fernando 15, Dushan Hematha 12) beat Royal Panadura 54 for 4 in 5 overs (D.Hashan 21).

Final

DSS : 70 for 2 in 5 overs(Binura Fernando 36, Harith Maduwantha 23) beat St.Peter's : 59 for 3 in 5 overs(Ranitha Liyanaarachchi 16 n.o.)

Vijaya Katupotha MV Chilaw 37 for 2 in 4.3 overs beat Revatha MMV Balapitiya 36 in 3.4 overs
