Showdown at Vihara Mahadevi Park

After an amazing week of campaigning in the buses, from June 25 to 29, against the harassment of women in public places, Sri Lanka Unites have decided to have one final Showdown to complete the campaign.

This event will be to

- take their message to a larger audience and to obtain assistance from other interested groups

- Present some working policies to authorities and policy makers

- A personal pledge to be committed to see an end to harassment of women in public spaces

- Symbolic passing of the baton to Kandy

The event will also include musical performance by renowned artists and bands.

Come to the Vihara Mahadevi Park, Town Hall, on October 20 at 5 pm and show that you care.

Dancesport at Hilton

Footworks Events presents Dancesport for the 17th consecutive year at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo on October 21.

Known as Sri Lanka's premier dancing competition it features the best ballroom and Latin American dancers from Asia and Europe. This year's event will be a breathtaking extravaganza of rhythm, grace and flair.

A discussion on National Street Drama reserve at Sudarshi

An all island National Street Drama reserve is to be formed surrounding the street drama units scattered all over the island, centralizing interested parties with the object of giving an impulsion.

A discussion on this topic is to take place on October 20 at Sudarshi hall, opposite the BMICH. All interested parties in street drama are cordially invited.

Image Today, an exhibition of video, photo and digital imaging, will be held at the BMICH from October 19 to 21 from 10 am to 7.30 pm.

Rag at the Wendt

A groundbreaking musical that grapples with the topical issue of ragging written and composed by Jehan Aloysius with music by Avanti Perera, choral arrangements by Deshan Cooray and Eshantha Peiris will be held at the Lionel Wendt Theatre from October 19 to 23 at 7.30 pm.

The choral direction is by Eshantha Peiris.

Rag is a hard-hitting contemporary musical drama filled with meaningful lyrics and catchy melodies.

Naribena and Jasaya Saha Lenchina at Punchi theatre

Naribena and Jasaya Saha Lenchina two popular dramas of Dayananda Gunawardena’s will stage its special shows on october 19 at 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm at the Namel Malani Punchi theatre.

Those taking part in the play will be Rodny Warnakula, Bandula Wijeweera, Sarath Kulanga, Tharanda Kumara, Rathnasheela Perera,Sunil Thilakarathne,Nilmini Kottegoda, Indika Jayasinghe.

Music is by Pubudu Walpita. The main organizer of the show is Jude Srimal.

Tickets are available at Namel Malani Punchi theatre, Borella. All seats have been box planned.

Madura Dwani at the Lotus Pond
 

Madura Dwani, a musical concert featuring vocalists Sunil Edirisinghe, Victor Ratnayake, Nirosha Virajini and others will be held at the Lotus Pond Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on October 21 at 6.30 pm.

The event is organized by the Old Boy's association of Nalanda College, Colombo.
