The Holcim Geo Cycle Unit launched a Green Bank which is a unique
concept to manage domestic waste of their employees in an environmental
friendly manner.
General Manager, Holcim Geo Cycle Asela Iddawela said the issue in
Sri Lanka today is managing domestic waste in urban areas.
The country has successfully managed 250,000 MT of industrial waste
successfully during the past 10 years according to a survey. The Green
Bank concept will be implemented among Geo Cycle employees initially and
awareness among others will be carried out to take this forward in the
future among other employees.
Accordingly, the employees of Geo Cycle will bring their segregated
domestic waste to Geo Cycle collection centre twice a week and they
become green bank members who will get rewards at the end of the year
following an evaluation. |
