Adele’s theme for James Bond film out
UK: A brand new Skyfall trailer has been released online,
featuring chart topping singer Adele’s brilliant new theme for the 23rd
Bond film. Last Friday was Global James Bond Day, marking 50 years of
the 007 film franchise. All manner of clips, interviews and Bond-related
goodies were released online; most exciting of all was the full version
of Adele’s theme song for the latest Bond movie.
The single was apparently leaked by a French radio station just ahead
of its official release on Friday but that didn’t stop the song from
quickly shooting straight to the top spot of the official UK iTunes
chart, knocking South Korean rapper Psy‘s surprise K-pop hit Gangnam
Style down to the number three spot. Skyfall currently occupies the
number one slot on the iTunes chart in the UK, US, France and Germany.
Adele posted a version of the song to her official YouTube channel,
featuring an animation incorporating a section of its lyrics (in case
you should ever need to bust out the Bond themed karaoke). The track is
written by Adele and Grammy award-winning producer Paul Epworth who
produced the singer’s smash hit album, 21 as well as working with Cee Lo
Green and Florence and the Machine.
The style of this new track sounds markedly different from Jack White
and Alicia Keys’ theme for 2008's Bond movie Quantum of Solace and for
some critics, is reminiscent of classic Bond songs from the 1960s with
its bold strings and brass, slow chord progression and Adele’s signature
sultry tones. Could this be the best Bond theme yet...?
This latest trailer is as action packed as ever and features snippets
of previously unseen footage of this exciting new Bond adventure. With
only weeks to go until Skyfall appears in UK cinemas, here’s your chance
to enjoy clips of the film and Adele’s new theme together in one sitting
– enjoy!
