Arms haul seized in Mullaithivu

Special Task Force officers of the Mullaitivu camp recovered a stock of weapons that had been buried after a search operation in Wellamullivaikkal on Sunday.

The stock included 18 mortar shells, 18 unidentified weapon barrels, 10 bolt carriers and receiving covers of T56 and 49 magazines, 118 bulltets, 105 anti-aircraft bullets, an MPMG bolt carrier, 460 bullets of 12.7 mm, 49 fuses of 81mm, 2 hand grenades, 1 ‘ Tamilan Gundu’ and 23 mortar chargers.

IP Munasinghe and a team led the operation. The weapons were handed over to Mullaitivu Police.
