Defence Secy to chair special steering committee

Defence and Urban Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will chair a special steering committee for the implementation of the Anuradhapura Sacred City development project.

The committee will also comprise Atamasthanadhipathi Ven Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Nayaka Thera, Ruwanweli Seya Chief Incumbent Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera and Ministry Secretaries dealing with the Sacred City development project.

The committee is being tasked with the submission of fruitful proposals with regard to the evacuation of families residing within the Sacred City limits, protection, maintenance and provision of infrastructural facilities relating to the monuments and shrines and the demolition of a large number of unauthorized constructions.
