Vasu disturbed by attack

National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara, who is also the Secretary of the Democratic Left Front, said his party was disturbed and shocked when it heard of the assault on the Secretary to the Judicial Services Commission Manjula Tillekaratne, in a media release yesterday.

The release: The Secretary to the Judicial Services Commission had issued a statement to the media, a few days prior to this incident, stating that he felt insecure with regard to his personal safety and was in danger, of physical harm.

"We believe that the government should have been more vigilant and provided him with additional security.

"We are aware that there are scheming forces who are trying hard to create a rift between the Judiciary and the government and it is no surprise if they were delighted to hear about this unfortunate incident.

"We believe that the whole truth could be bared by apprehending the culprits soon, the release said.
