Orient Insurance opens in Negombo


Orient Insurance Limited keeping in line with their growth strategies has expanded its distribution network by opening af ully-fledged branch in Negombo.

The branch was ceremoniously declared opened by Chief Guest, Dr. (Mrs) Sudarshani Fernandopulle, MP for Gampaha district together with the Chief Executive Officer of Orient Insurance, Deepthi Lokuarachchi.

Orient Insurance has already been in operation in the Negombo region through its Sales outlet affiliated to Associated Motorways Ltd. (AMW) and Capital Leasing, the lucrative opportunities present in this area lured to open an independent branch office in order to explore the potential and servetheir customers better.

“Orient has seen a rapid growth during its ten months in terms of turnover and points of sales spreading its wings in over 19 cities and locations.

This was made possible by virtue of the fact that our holding company Al-Futtaim Group also owns one of the pioneer automobile suppliers to the local market, Associated Motorways Ltd., and Capital Leasing Ltd., stated Deepthi Lokuarachchi, Chief Executive Officer of Orient Insurance Ltd.

He went on to state that Orient Insurance intends to be a major support service provider to the businesses and communities living in Negombo and peripherals.

The company is fully confident that the branch under the able leadership of Sumith Parakatawala will provide a level of service that will effectively differentiate Orient Insurance from the rest of the players”.

Orient Insurance Ltd.,was established with a direct foreign investment of Rs 750 million by Arab Orient Insurance PSC., (Arab Orient) a company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. Arab Orient is one of UAE’s largest and strongest insurance giants with a gross written premium base over AED 1.13 b illion, an equivalent of Rs 34 billion in Sri Lankan currency.
