Royal Institute take on Elizabeth Moir School in final

The Royal Institute Colombo will take on Elizabeth Moir School in the final of the Dialog International Schools’ Soccer Championships at 3.30pm , tomorrow at Henry Pedris grounds, Havelock Town.

Both teams entered the finals after a tough competition where 12 teams battled in 32 games during past few weeks. In the semi finals Elizabeth Moir School beat Alethea who too had an impressive run in the tournament by 5 goals to 0. Forwards Kayamm Rasheed scored 2 goals with Arson Rashim scoring the 3 goals for Elizabeth Moir School. In the second semifinal played on Sunday at the same venue, hosts Royal Institute had tough resistance with British School in Colombo and managed to beat BSC 1 goal to nil.

Royal Institute has won the trophy many times but they could not win in the last 3 years. They will go all out to win the handsome Dialog trophy back while Elizabeth Moir who has been undefeated so far in the tournament, will put their maximum to grab the trophy for the first time.

In the preliminary round Elezabet Moir defeated Royal Institute by 1-0 and will be looking to repeat it in the final. The Dialog golden ball, a special award is waiting for the hands of the most valuable player of the tournament while the Dialog golden boot will be awarded to the highest goal scorer.

They will be selected by a technical team. Royal Institute has Risafath Ahamed with 10 goals and Elizabeth Moir has 2 contenders for the Golden Boot award with Kayyam Rasheed, 7 goals and Jaah Ziyad with 6 goals.
