Walkers Workshop for Heavy Engineering is being revolutionized and
would be made the biggest heavy engineering workshop in Sri Lanka.
The task making the workshop more dynamic was entrusted to
entrepreneur Kiran Atapattu who is now the Chief Operations Officer
Walkers Engineering Workshop facility.
He said that with the mammoth development taking place in the country
initiated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, a facility of this nature was
something essential for the country.
The Board of Directors of MTD Walkers taking into consideration the
massive development by both the government and the private sector,
entrusted task of adding value to the Walkers engineering facility to
dynamic and award winning businessmen Kiran Atapattu.
His expertise and credibility in the industry would help the Walkers
Workshop for Heavy Engineering to gain more assignments and earn
increased revenue and make it the most efficient e modern engineering
workshop in the country

Located at a 4 acre Block of land in Mahena Road, Siyambalape, South,
Siyambalape he said that they would be now geared to undertake any mega
project specializing in mechanical engineering in the future. Also the
workshop is geared to handle all the major ship repair work in
Hambantota Harbour.
Lathe Machines, Horizontal Boring Machines, Vertical Milling
Machines, Universal Milling Machines, Shaping Machines, Profile Cutter,
Line Cutter, Hydraulic Press Machines, Plaining Machines, Slotting
Machines, Radial Dirll Machines, Plate Rollers, Shearing Machines,
Boring Machines, Traveling OH Gantry Crane, Welding Machines, Generators
are some of the Machines and Equipment that are available in the work
shop. It is also the first time in Sri Lanka that all these equipment is
made available under one roof.
He said that one of the other key features of the workshop is that it
would have ample spares and customers do not have to wait for repairs
till they are being imported. This is made available through an online
production process that has been put in place.
Famous Walkers Tea Roller used for centuries would manufactured in
this facility and kept readily ex stock for both local and export thus
bringing valuable foreign exchange to the country. |
