The Vada Hindu Girls’ College Past Pupils’ Society Limited (Colombo
Branch) which was established in 1992 held a grand sale of numerous
items at Saraswathy Hall, No. 75, Lorenz Road, Colombo 4 recently with
the sole intention of providing financial assistance to its Alma Mater
to construct additional buildings, purchase furniture and to undertake
various other rehabilitation and restoration works.
The chief guests at the occasion were Dr and Mrs Mithrakumar, a
distinguished past pupil, head prefect of this college, R Sivagurunathan
former principal of Bambalapitiya Ramanathan Hindu Girls’ College,
present President of the Past Pupils’ Society Limited (Colombo Branch)
and several others organized this sale which was a tremendous success.
Vada Hindu Girls’ College, Point Pedro which was established in 1944
by late Kathigesu who was an educationist, philanthropist and former
principal of Kokuvil Hindu College is rendering tremendous service in
the sphere of education and has produced women of erudition and
eminence.

This college had several illustrious principals who were responsible
to provide quality education to the students. Even the great patriot and
religious personality Swami Vivekananda once said that “before flooding
the country with socialistic and economic ideas, the country should be
deluged with religious ideas.
In accordance with a Swami Vivekananda, this college is providing a
better education to the students maintaining Hindu tradition and culture
combined with high degree of discipline.
Undoubtedly, this College is one of the leading colleges in Jaffna
peninsula producing best results in the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level
Examinations and also in the field of sports.
Further, the past pupils of this college who are living abroad
particularly in Canada and various other countries have formed Past
Pupils Associations and collect funds and assist their Alma Mater
fabulously and fantastically for the college’s various activities.
Yamuna Ganeshalingam, Rajeswary Maniccavasagar, L Kumaraswamy,
Maheswaran Ramachandran and several other past pupils are rendering
yeoman service for the betterment and uplift of this college. Now this
college has grown from strength to strength providing man making and
character building education.
This college has earned a name and fame and the past principals,
teachers and students have put this college in the world map. |
