President inaugurates 58th Commonwealth
Parliamentary Conference today:
Showcasing SL’s post-conflict progress
The 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference
will be officially inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa today.
The Conference will bring together 850 Parliamentarians and staff
from 54 countries. Speaker and current CPA Chairman Chamal Rajapaksa
told the media this will be the biggest event to be held in Sri
Lanka since the end of terrorism and an opportunity for the country
to showcase first hand the progress made, to global policy makers.

PC polls peaceful - Polls Chief

Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils held on Saturday were peaceful,

The government recorded an overwhelming victory
whilst the UNP suffered a major debacle and the JVP was routed,
recording a significant defeat at the Sabaragamuwa, North Central
