Lankan skipper hopes for a better display

South Asian Football Federation Women’s Championships:

Sri Lanka womens football team captain Champa Kumari said that It is their utmost hope to be victorious in the South Asian Football Federation Women’s Championships. She said so at a press breifing held at FFSL auditorium yesterday.

The SAFF women’s championships which commences today will see the depending champions India meeting Bangladesh in the first match at CR and FC at 8.30 am followed by the opening ceremony at 2.30 pm. Sri Lanka in their first game in the tournament will vie for honours against Bhutan at 3.30 pm.

“We have been practicing well, and the girls are looking forward to display their skills in front of home fans”, the Sri Lankan captain added. The head coach of Sri Lanka team Mahinda Galagedara said that since they have a well balanced team this year, they will give a good fight to their opponents.

Speaking at the occasion, captains of the participating countries all expressed that they were all delighted to play in Sri Lanka after the inaugural championships in Bangladesh.
