Protesting undergrads cause heavy traffic block
The Police yesterday dispersed a protest by undergraduates opposite
the University Grants Commission by using water cannons. Several
students were also arrested by Cinnamon Gardens Police.
The Police dispersed the protesting undergraduates who blocked Ward
Place causing a heavy traffic jam in the area.
One day workshop
The Colombo YMBA will conduct a one day workshop for English Dhamma
School Teachers on September 16 from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm at the Main Hall
of YMBA Borella.
Keynote address will be by Ven. Daranagama Kusala Dhamma Nayaka Thera
of Sambodhi Vihara. Experienced and erudite Dhamma teachers are due to

Youths of SL-Indian Army families celebrate together
Youths of both Sri Lankan and Indian Army families celebrated
together on Tuesday evening at the Colombo Defence Services College
auditorium during a cultural show, as part of a youth exchange project
by the Viru Daru Society of the Sri Lanka Army.
A 25-member youth delegation, comprising children of Indian Army
families arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday under the Youth Exchange
Programme.
The team on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport was
received by Viru Daru Society chairperson Deshani Jayasuriya and other
members of the society. The youngsters from India interacted with their
counterparts in Sri Lanka through various programmes including sports,
culture, tours and entertainment.
Dhamma workshop
The Colombo YMBA will conduct a one day workshop for English Dhamma
school teachers on September 16 from 8.30am to 4pm at the YMBA, Borella
main hall.
The keynote address will be delivered by Ven Daranagama Kusala Dhamma
Nayake Thera of the Sambodhi Viharaya.
Dhamma teachers will conduct the workshop.
