JICA assistance for agriculture sector

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to provide technical and financial assistance for Sri Lanka's agriculture sector.

At a discussion held recently with Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane, JICA representatives agreed to introduce technologies for seed production, micro water technology, drip irrigation system and cultivation in polythene houses.

JICA representatives also said they will provide assistance to equip agriculture technical colleges with new technologies with the objective of enhance youth attraction to the agriculture sector.
