GN in abuse case remanded

An ex- Grama Sevaka Niladhari aged 73 was remanded until September 3 by the Kaluwanchikudy magistrate for allegedly abusing a 13 - year- old girl in Batticaloa.

The child had been brought by her parents from Thopur, Trincomalee to be admitted to a children’s home at Kaluwanchikudy.

The parents had left the child with the grama sevaka niladhari and gone about some business. (SP)
