Road development in full swing in Batticaloa

The government has provided facilities for all communities to live in harmony, UPFA General Secretary and Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said any Sri Lankan can visit any part of the island without fear.

The minister was speaking participating at the inauguration of the construction of a Rs 20 million concrete road from Siththandy to Santhanamadu in the Chenkalady division in Batticaloa under the Deyata Kirula programme.

Resettlement Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan had invited Minister Premajayantha for the ceremony. Rural Development Society president S Sritharan presided. This road was affected by floods that devastated the area recently.

Residents said once the road is constructed it will be a boon for minor crop cultivators and farmers. (SP)
